Second, your name here, please explain to me what is wrong with avi??? Smaller download, and with my faster system, I use tmpgenc and vdub (if need) to encode and burn to svcd which I watch on my dvd player. Is this wrong? If so, I guess I'll be wrong considering the XVID codec has allowed me to dld 5 movies in less than one day (I let them dld while I'm gone and at work or with my wife and son like tonight while I was xmas shopping).
AVI is a much smaller file, with smaller files come decreased sound and video, dont let these people fool you majority, at once in there life either heavily downloaded avi's, or has a few times. Another thing if you convert AVI's to SVCD its pointless your wasting your time, cds, etc...the avi files come from VCD's someone takes the VCD downsamples it and encodes it to AVI, so basically you are taking something of a certain quality, tunring it into lesser quality and then turning it into greater quality than what you started with. Most people on this board prefer to download the original VCDs which will run up your hard drive space about a gig, gig an a half a movie, but the quality blows most avi files out of the water
