Not bitter in my own.. but more so in others around me. I married at 18, been married for 13 years this year, have one son, so it can't be that bad if I'm still here... but this is not the norm...

A child is no reason to marry and until you've spent YEARS of your youth being youthful there's no reason to push pause on the fun just to settle down, commit, and raise a family correctly in financial and supportive respects.

And para, if I ever were drunk enough to fuck any of the women you've had, they wouldn't ever even take a second look at your porkly ass.

Big benefit is for your CHILDREN ,don't know about the US but where i live (I live on one of the tougher estates in the UK) it's a positive advantage to know you have a mother and father preferably with the same surname and not a succession of uncles.

Love billiards, I have been teaching my son to play.

Children will benefit from a well thought-out commitment, I agree. Marriage because of kids is not the answer, nor is marriage so young - misspending youth in a bubble with only one person, it's just stupid when done now.

There are still no benefits to a man himself, selfishly.

I love my wife, and show her these posts. Would I have made the same decisions so early on (in our late teens/early twenties), hell no, and neither would have she.

Even after 13 years of marriage and a divorce that took almost 1 and half years, I still don't knock marriage if you truly believe it will work for you. I did pretty much what Lolobo suggested, waited until I was 27 and even then we waited 8 years to have kids simply because we were having too much fun. But in the long run it didn't make much of difference. Would I get married again? Possible though not anytime soon. Figure they're should be some period of mourning (10 years or so) before I take that huge jump again. :
