this movie - is it important
This movie is about honor, diginity, self respect, and in short morales. As we move into 21'st century in technology and back to the dark ages in compassion for our fellow man - is it possible that the new young americans dont have a clue about morality and the puritan work ethic that made the USA the great country that it once was. Could this mentality be somehow connected to the basis for the movie "Bowling for Columbine". A movie that shows the glaring ignorance of most Americans. One that a fellow named Noam Chomsky could have made. A movie by Michael Moore that only ridicules the problem while making feeble attempts to explain why so many murders occur in the USA with guns - very Chomskyish. If one watches this movie closely and observes the values in "The Emperors Club" - would there be those murders? Also, would Enron, WorldCom, and a president that takes sexual advantange of employees exist if they had been properly groomed with the proper values. What values does our police and much of the government have? Would you say they are compassionate toward the people? Our problems in the USA are a direct result of the moral decay and the loss of the puritan work ethic of our people. All the government owes you is a piece of ground to put your bones in for a reasonable price. The cemetaries are full of people that thought they could not be replaced. Life will go on, its only a question of if it goes up or down. If short sighted people get control and ruin it for all of us is the only question. In the words of Solsynitzen, are you one of the living dead or are you going to contribute something to the human race. Without God or the supreme being is there any reason to do the right thing? Why did Mendel, Einstien etal. convert to christianity as they got old and understood that life was far to complex to be an "accident".
Knowledge is the key to understanding. That is the one thing that socialism and communism is good for - giving the stupid a crutch to stand on so they dont have to be smart or work. The products of such a mentality are the living dead. For everyone to be poor and stupid is the wish of the rich and powerful - to keep u that way. Do you want to be empowered or stupid. Knowledge is the only thing that cannot be stolen from you! Is this an important movie - it only depends on if you are a loser or a winner. Kevin Kline was great in this movie, perhaps one of the few actors in hollywood that could play such a part from the heart.
