Supreme Movie Overlord

Golden Globes Movie Breakdown

will try to knock down each other the Movie nominees with my picks--

will only knock the major categories--

DIRECTOR

Stephen Daldry (The Hours)
Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers)
Spike Jonze (Adaptation)
Rob Marshall (Chicago)
Alexander Payne (About Schmidt)
Martin Scorsese (The Gangs of New York)

this is a tough call, since they all did excellent with direction

but even money goes to Jackson and Scorcese for their fantastic work in their films

2/1 odds: Rob Marshall--Chicago

7/1 odds:Payne--About Schmidt

10/1 odds:Jones--Adaptation

20/1 oddsaldry-The Hours

My pick:Peter Jackson-The Lord of the Rings:The Two Towers

SUPPORTING ACTOR

Chris Cooper (Adaptation) 20/1
Ed Harris (The Hours) 12/1
Paul Newman (Road to Perdition) even
Dennis Quaid (Far From Heaven) 3/1
John C. Reilly (Chicago) 2/1

My Pick:From when its release back in June, I believe the award should and probably will go to Paul Newman, who put in an amazing performance as the Head Gangster, who treated Tom Hanks as like his son. He was that damn good.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS

Kathy Bates (About Schmidt) 12/1
Cameron Diaz (The Gangs of New York) 7/1
Queen Latifah (Chicago) 25/1
Susan Sarandon (Igby Goes Down) 10/1
Meryl Streep (Adaptation)even

My Pick: This was a much tougher category, but out of all the actresses it was down to Streep, who put an amazing performance, but its Diaz who gets my pick, as the pickpocket thief who fell in love with the son of an Irishman in Gangs of New York. Her performace was one to write home about.

LEAD ACTOR - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

Nicolas Cage (Adaptation) even
Kieran Culkin (Igby Goes Down) 25/1
Richard Gere (Chicago) 2/1
Hugh Grant (About A Boy) 7/1
Adam Sandler (Punch-Drunk 10/1
Love)

My Pick: Another tough category choice as from the beginning I thought Nicholas Cage did an amazing turn in two roles, but Richard Gere did a spectacular turn as the Lawyer in the musical that has been turning many heads. However my pick is Cage, but look for Adam Sandler to pull a possible upset

LEAD ACTRESS - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

Maggie Gyllenhaal (Secretary) 30/1
Goldie Hawn (The Banger Sisters) 20/1
Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) 2/1
Renee Zellweger (Chicago) even
Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago) 7/1

My Pick: This is what I call the shit category, and the winner might not get an oscar nomination, even though the bottom three Vardolos who was simply amazing in My Big Fat Greek Wedding may get the award, because the canceled out votes that Zellwegger and Zeta-Jones may receive. 2nd. Choice Zellwegger

LEAD ACTOR - DRAMA

Adrien Brody (The Pianist) 2/1
Michael Caine (The Quiet 10/1
American)
Daniel Day-Lewis (The Gangs of New York) even
Leonardo DiCaprio (Catch Me If You Can)7/1
Jack Nicholson (About Schmidt)2/1

My Pick: This has got to be the toughest category to call, Day-Lewis was amazing as the SOB in Gangs of New York, however he may get canceled out because of Leo being nominated in Catch Me If You Can, to set it up for my pick:Jack Nicholson, nuff said.

LEAD ACTRESS - DRAMA

Salma Hayek (Frida) 12/1
Nicole Kidman (The Hours) 4/1
Diane Lane (Unfaithful)7/1
Julianne Moore (Far From Heaven)even
Meryl Streep (The Hours)17/1

My Pick: That is the more convincing category, and at Oscar time, these five should once again receive nominations, but because of the canceled out vote of the Three, The Hours co-stars, Streep, Kidman, and Moore, Diane Lane should walk away with award.

BEST PICTURE - COMEDY

About A Boy 20/1
Adaptation even
Chicago 2/1
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 7/1
Nicholas Nickleby 12/1

My Pick: Adaptation..nuff said

BEST PICTURE - DRAMA

About Schmidt-4/1
The Hours-7/1
The Gangs of New York-4/1
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers-even
The Pianist-2/1

My Pick: Roman Polanski's The Pianist has been receiving criticial aclaim, and The Two Towers has received much merit in its battle action sequences reminiscent of another Oscar Winner Gladiator, but my upset pick About Schmidt-movie was very good and must see.

Nice Picks guys, But there is no need to pick something for every category but only the 8 I picked and the 2 tie breakers those are the only ones that will count to make the game easier but if you want to pick more feel free to do so and I figured it was going to be pretty hard for ppl not to edit so I changed the rules a bit I will close the game one Hour before the awards start and I will post everyones edit time so feel free to edit just don't do it close to award time.

yeah its cool np. Just wish more ppl would of played maybe for the oscars. And I will try to start the Thread/Game earlier so more ppl get a chance to play. hey MovieGod would any Moderator have a problem with me giving out a real price from my own pocket like 100 Cdrw's or something cool like that. Cdrws and other computer software and hardware is really cheap or free for me. I would like to do that for my next game do you think that would be cool? I plan to do with the oscars that would get alot of ppl involved and it would be really cool.

Chronic Gulp™ Addict

The Hours?? THE HOURS?! That movie blew ass chunks!

One time, my cousin Walter got this cat stuck in his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up on the news, it was embarrassing for my relatives and all, but the next week he did it again, different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room! So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to ‘em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....
