6,4M $/Day baby !

true or false ?

retail DVDs and PS2/XBox games all have copy protection so its impossible to write a DVD to DVD-R wich is why we need to make an image file of the said DVD that we can then write to DVD-R

so its pretty much useless to have a DVD-ROM and a DVD writer.

this is the idea i am getting but i could be wrong and i would like to know if this is true or false

if what you are asking is Can I go rent/borrow a DVD movie and do a 1-1 copy like with and audio CD for example...the answer is no.

Due to the copy protection you need to rip and reencode and a couple of other things then burn

Apparently it works with nero on a PC too (Do a search on google when you have time). You still need to have your PS2 chipped tho.

Apparently the best DVD recorders are the Pioneer ones.

the real question is how can you copy a dvd if you're actually copying cd to cd?

I have a dvdrom and dvd writer as the pioneer 105 isnt the best at ripping dvd videos as it only rips copyrighted stuff at 2x.You can copy ps2 games easily with either recordnow max or discjuggler and most games arent the full 4.7 gig anyway so there is no problem with disc space there.Dvd videos are different as they are bigger most of the time than 4.7 gig so you have to encode them to fit or rip out some of the extras.

In theory yes you can copy on the fly with the right software. But for dvd videos its best to image first with something like dvddcrypter then burn the image.

If you are doing games or movies that have been already ripped I use discjuggler to copy on the fly.

Every game I have seen so far is under 4.37 gig so there should be no probs with them. The only things I've seen over it are dvd videos(DVD9s) which you have to rip and encode to fit on 1 dvdr.Once you have ripped and converted them they too can be copied on the fly.

Of course if you really want movies on dvdr you could always buy a real time dvd recorder and hook up your dvd player (Macrovision free) to it. I've done it on the odd occasion with tv shows. I copy a series onto DVD+RW (note the +) and once finished i burn it off onto a cheap DVD-R leaving me with the DVD+RW ready to be used again!
