Review:(2003) Lizzie McGuire Movie w/Hilary Duff
Lo and Behold everyones favorite new teen cutie Hilary Duff hits the big screen in her latest feature film. Coming off the successful Agent Cody Banks, Duff brings her Disney Channel Personna to the big screen.
Lizzie takes a vacation from her family and heads to Rome, Italy on a school trip, under the supervision of Miss Ungermeyer (played by the always wonderful Alex Borstein).
On the trip, Lizzie are two of her School Mates Gordo (Adam Lamber) and her rival Kate (Ashlie Brillaut), a valley girl teen bully.
Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine make token appearances in the movie as Lizzies Parents.
Her timing in Rome was a matter of coincidence as pop star Isabella, (also played by Duff in a dark wig) walks out on her Partner, Paolo (Yano Gellman), over artistic differences.
After spotting Lizzie in another Concidence, Paolo convinces Lizzie to take Isabella's place, giving her the chance at fame and fortune in a concert of a lifetime, including a hilarious turn at a Fashion Show (In perhaps one of the better scenes in the movie)
Despite the 10-13 year old dialouge, Lizzie McGuire is definitely a matinee movie, but for those that want to see Duff act more, she will be appearing in the new Steve Martin Comedy with called Cheaper by the Dozen, along with Tom Welling (Clark Kent from Smallville) and Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly), and from what I hear this movie should give her more exposure as an actree.
The Lizzie McGuire story is Rated Pg for mature situations.
It openned in theatres in May 2, 2003.
My rating: 7 out of 10.
