Probably a re-encode of the SHoCKVCD DVDR (mislabeled PDVD) but never-the-less I guess it's the best one out. 7/8/6

uhm.. A telecine machine copies the film digitally from the reels. Sound and picture should be very good, but due to the equipment involved and cost telecines are fairly uncommon. Generally the film will be in correct aspect ratio, although 4:3 telecines have existed. A great example is the JURASSIC PARK 3 TC done last year. TC should not be confused with TimeCode , which is a visible counter on screen throughout the film. ... thats why its a telecine even though its gr8 quality..

I've had the DVD-Screener for a while which is better than this release... It makes me wonder why groups bother releasing worse copies than have been previously released?

Probably because the dvd was in Manderin. This is the best English version out, but I'll wait for retail dvd.

SHoCKVCD has already released the retail DVDR from the region 3 & its the full english version. Quality is much better on the DVDR no need for this release.

:: that's why the DVD-R was nuked then if it's so great? pillock. -M$

Isn't it possible to dub a good audio source over the good video source?

Chief Phil Ossoffer

I spent a lot of time trying to get this converted from DVD-R to vcd (or svcd) and decided that is was impossible. I'd have a great picture, but no sound, no matter what I tried. Everyone is trashing this release, but for those without a DVD burner, it's the only Monk in town. I, for one, am extremely impressed that TWCiSO pulled this off, since I thought it was hopeless.

Quality is rock solid, although I'd have liked to have seen it on svcd, considering the source.

Edit note: Great computer animated intro, TWC. I wish the movie had been as good.
