The audio sampling rate *should* be 44.1 kHz becuase some people's dvd player's can't handle 48 for some reason.

But since the SVCD scene doesn't seem to have as strict a rules as the DivX scene, who knows.

Quote from the SVCD "rules"
³ AUDIO: ³
³ ³
³ - Minimum 224kbit @ 44.1khz (regardless of source) ³
³ - Secondary tracks shall be 224 or LESS ³

I never realized the rules said a minimum of 224 kbps and 44.1 kHz. I guess that makes a 48 kHz release be acceptible under those rules. It's definitely ok based on the SVCD spec, but there are some DVD players that just won't play it.

But then, my DVD player plays everything out of sync if there's an opening menu screen on a disc, but that doesn't make people nuke releases for having an opening menu...

Well, you see I am not sure if the rules mean a minimum of 44.1 kHz, or a minimum of 224 kbps @ 44.1 kHz. By this i mean that ausio could be 320 kbps @ 44.1 but not 320 kbps @ 48. It never explicitly says.

what!??!??!? being an avid divx/xvid guy, i can say that file formats vary drastically from release to release, (rules? what rules?) wheras EVERY svcd i get is at 224 / 44.1...

48kHz audio isn't standard with the SVCD spec. that is why it isn't "allowed" by the scene. Personally I make my svcds with 48kHz because it will play in my dvd players and then I don't have to reencode the audio if I want to transfer it to dvd-r.

.:*J奆®å¥måñ*:.

Audio should always be 44.1 KHz or it is a potential Nuke. Bitrate should be at least 224, any less will be nuked, anymore is considered a waste, IMO. But anyways, were getting off track. Supposed to be voting on quality of rls and m00bie here.

5/7/7.5

I personally prefer wide screen over full screen. Audio is fine by me, but would give reason for a proper according to the scene rules. A wide screen version is still needing to be released anyways.
