Review: American Wedding
What a year for sequels. It used to be rare when ANY sequel lived up to the original. This year we have not only seen good sequels, but some that have been better than the original(s). American Wedding is one of those movies.
To make things very simple, if you didn't like American Pie 1 or 2, don't even bother with this. I wasn't too big on AP1 but I pissed myself laughing at part 2. This one has its share of comedy scenes that go on waaaaay too long until the outrageousness is drained right out of it (the gay bar dance for one), but other scenes are so goddamn funny, I'm still laughing. One scene in particular involving a nude cop, a nude maid, and a "servant" named Mr. Belvadere in butt-cheekless pants left me in stitches.
As for certain cast members not returning, I used to think that it was because the actors suddenly became too good for the material, now I think it's because the script didn't want them. Additional characters like Nadia and Oz and his girlfriend would have been really lame. And what was Kevin doing in this movie? It was as if he was left out of the script too, and begged them to give him 10 lines for the whole movie.
Anyway, great movie, and a great end to the series. Now PLEASE don't make a 4th.
...Stifler's mom isn't a MILF anymore in my opinion. Yuck.
