Review: Bela Fleck and the Flecktones: Live Art
This is probably far from the prefered genre of this board, but this album is incredible. This live CD has been availible for some time, I received a free CD from a friend and decided to give it a try recently. This album BLEW ME AWAY. 90% of the album is instrumental...so for people with low attention spans this is not for you. Also i have to warn people this is pretty bluegrassy. Included in the band is one of the most amazing Bass players of my lifetime, Victor Wooten. Anyone who plays bass or is familiar with the bass as an instrument will be floored by this guy. This CD is 2 discs so I will not review the whole thing. But if you are the type of person that enjoy's listening to artists play there instruments and can enjoy music as a beautiful art form this album is definately for you. This has become one of my new favorite CD's just because the music on this album is so incredible it gives me chills. The most incredible thing about the music on this album it is completely improvised. All the songs start out like the album version...but on this live version a song that was 4:00 on the album will be stretched to 12:00 or longer. When artists have the ability to play this amazing without practice it shows some true talent.
