Site Suggestion

I think it would be wise to put a minimum required number of posts before a user can post real-time on the VCDQUALITY frontpage threads for each movie. I don't know who runs this site but you're a genious for thinking of the idea. Unfortunately, twelve year old IRC groupies see an unrestricted forum as some type of virtual playground where they can assume the role of aggressor rather than "schoolyard bitch". I check this site first thing every morning (before my email for crying out loud!) and lately the maturity level has fallen to a level similar to ISONEWS. Since we can't have a 21 and older site for mature, respectable posters, I think it would be wise to up the minimum post criteria for real-time posting to at least 30 and also ban all new users with Yahoo! or Hotmail accounts. I'm not even close to 30 posts and I admit that I use a Yahoo! email account, but I would gladly give up any posting priviledges if it meant order and decency would be restored. Afterall, it is a PRIVILEDGE not a RIGHT to post here. This site is literally a gift from the Internet gods and I went through withdrawals when it was down, so I thought it would be appropriate for me to post this suggestion. I'm sure you don't hear it enough, so let me say thanks on behalf of all the mature, appreciative fans who owe this site the respect it deserves and has rightfully earned. RANT OVER---

EDIT :: i only read the first few lines cos im busy, but you have to post 10 times before you get to post "in real time" so we're one step ahead of ya ! pHo

my 2 cents

'ban all new users with Yahoo! or Hotmail accounts'

i dont believe discrimination against those who prefer to use a yahoo or hotmail account for email would make a difference.

i use a hotmail instead of the one provided by my ISP simply because i know i will not always be with the ISP i am with now and do not wish to have to mess around with a new email address if and when i change ISPs for one reason or another

Besides, all that would achive is that the "schoolyard bitch" as you put it, would just use the email provided by their ISP or a number of other free email services provided online to sign up. I dont believe it would in anyway keep them out.

pjeer?

personally i agree with hollywood, u should use a isp email. i dont care if u dont check it,but everyone has one. its just so we can stop people signing up with dozens of accounts on hotmail n shit.

something we'd *think* about implementing if we ever have a reason to.

pHo, not all of us have ISP e-mail's. My IQuest (http://iquest.net) never gave me one. But they're also the only ISP within 40 miles of me, that isn't affiliated with Indianapolis. No one else reaches me.

But when I signed up with them, all I got was the installation guy, that's all. I hate my life

But I agree with most of what Hollywood is talking about, but I find no reason to 'ban people with Hotmail or Yahoo e-mails'. That seriously makes no sense... But alright.

pjeer?

im on other forums that dont accept hotmail/yahoo , because of the problem of people having so many of these accounts so easily.

theres plenty of pop3 mail accounts available, yahoo/hotmail aren't the only alternatives.

as i said, i've no problem at the moment, but if it came to the stage, then yes, i would disable hotmail/yahoo signups

Lightbulb

The ones who disagree with banning Yahoo! and Hotmail accounts would be unaffected as you have proven you are not a fly-by-night flamer. You would be allowed an exemption. For new users, they could submit an email request for authorization on these email systems. 99 times out of 100 a trolling flamer wouldn't bother going through the process and waiting on authorization, but the legit poster who really wants to add his valuable two cents would follow up and wait for the validation. Put it this way, this forum has too many trolls already and should only allow SERIOUS posters the opportunity to contribute. Personally, I think this will completely squash the current plague of assholes that has hijacked the forums with simple/fake/faulty account registration. I hope this helps because I really am addicted to this site... its like crack to me. Keep up the great work!

Talking

And speaking of the 10 post limit, can I get that waved? I hate not seeing my post until the next day. Of course, I could always go post 10 rants about how lame FTF is and another 10 where I stick Centropy's balls entirely in my mouth. If that doesn't work I could be one of those guys that takes the time to post a response stating (verbatim): "I haven't seen this yet so I can't post my opinion." Nevermind... When I take time out of my schedule to post ANYTHING, it will be a valid contribution. I should at least try to follow my own rules right? LOL!
