There's "For Your Consideration" text (forced subtitles 4-5 times throughout the movie, not hardcoded) in this version that can be removed by stripping out subtitles.

only downside seems to be the message in the subtitles, which is better than no subtitles atall.

Ran it through a one-click program(dvd2one) to remove the forced subs and it worked great. Still think its a critics movie though

whoops - seem to get my post timings mixed up.
i converted it from .img to .iso with magic iso then extracted the video_ts folder with winrar theeen dvdshrinked it to remove subs.
phew.
might try dvd2one next time

Are those the only subtitles? There's no English subtitles for Japanese speaking or anything? Thanks guys.

: japanese is japanese audio only, no eng subs. pHo

So there are not supposed to be any english subs for the japanese speaking? i'm just wondering if this can be as good as a retail without the menu? thanks

no, there are no english subs for the jap speaking parts. i watched this from the original .ISO (mounted with daemon tools) and there were no eng subs at all, other than the screener messages
