before i bought a dvd burner i had the same issue. here's what you can do tho, downlaod the freeware program "daemon tools" from http://www.daemon-tools.cc/portal/portal.php .... this program can mount the DVD image as a DVD-ROM in windows!!! so you'll basically take the .IMG file, and load it into this program, and it will show up as a normal DVD =] then you can use the guides at www.doom9.org to rip it to divx, svcd, or whatever format you choose.
oh and FYI, this rls had some thick interlacing.... not necessarily considered a nuke since it was on the original DVD. but for people like me who watch it on a projector (or on your monitor), you'll notice the interlacing a lot more. a reencoded progressive rip was posted to usenet a few days ago by a group called "REiGN"... just do a search for 'bubba' on newzbin.com. i have yet to download it
