Nice release, but wait for the UNCUT, FULL COLOUR, LONGER RUNNING TIME Japanese DVD out very soon.

I'm sure a group will release that. Nobody wants the pussy versions.

yea is this one edited like it was in theaters or is it UNRATED?

- the japanese version is the only uncut edition. the japanese cut was made especially for them and is better than every other version.

you won't see the japanese one anywhere else (at least not in the near future anyway). - M$

1-2 minutes added footage (2 scenes) and the infamous full-coloured sequence instead of the pussy lick-MPAA-up-the-ass and cash in more money b/w the REST OF THE FUCKING WORLD got. Courtesy of the turds in suits and Harvey Wienerstein over at MiramAXE.

I had a link to a jap article on it, but it's dead, of course. I'll see if I can dig up a new one.

I too am looking forward to this movie, but I wonder WHY they wouldn't include the unrated version here in Region 1?! Most movies have their "unrated" version upon arriving on the shelves of North American stores (ie: American Pie 1-3, Road Trip, etc...). I hope this release is magically the unrated version and that it follows the pattern of other DVD releases that were "the version you couldn't see in theaters". However that is usually a gimmic used to get people to rent/buy movies. I mean, who the fuck wants to see My Boss' Daughter: Unrated. That's got to be a last ditch effort to try to break even (and yes, there is a unrated version).

Either way, nice job and I can't wait to get it (Kill Bill that is).

Side Note: I am surprised that the video fit no problem without downsampling! But sure, you won't catch me complaining!

Nice job Replica!

IDIOTS. theres a reason why america/australia/western audiences all got the black and white / no arm cut at the end. This is quentin tarantinos way of creating a faux censorship, much like it used to be in the 70's with the classic japanese kung fu films, many with sonny chiba (who plays a cameo in kill bill and talks about in quentins first script in true romance), where they would be uncut in japan but censored for american audiences. Black and white scenes are a very old form of censorship, which hasnt been used since the 80's at least. What WOULD have happened is they would have taken snippets of the more gory segments in the sequence, while maintaining the colour.

If that isnt enough for you, lets read a part out of quentins script for kill bill:

Not only is the FIGHT CUT TO THE HEAVY METAL MUSIC, but The
Bride seems to be somewhat dancing to it as she fights.

This explosion of furious violence is punctuated
CINEMATICALLY BY THE COLOR IN THE FILM POPPING OFF, and the
fight being filmed in HIGH CONTRAST BLACK AND WHITE, turning
the squirting, spewing geysers of BLOOD FROM CRIMSON RED TO
OIL BLACK.

Many members of The Crazy 88 are Sliced, Slashed, and
liberated from the limbs they were born with at The Bride's
blade.

http://sfy.iv.ru/sfy.html?script=kill_bill

Watch it though, that link also has the script for the second part.

nuff said.

Alot of movies to watch, this one looks mighty fine as it is untouched. Altho a DTS release of it would be kinda cool too. Im not gonna wait around for the jap limited version, no telling how long that one takes to be releases to the scene.

There's also the possibility there won't be English subs during the Japanese speaking scenes on the Jap release.

Sure, that's true... However, as you said it was "faux censorship" because the MPAA probably had a problem with it. Either way, would have been nice to have the movie like Tarantino's original way he intended to have it. This day in age, you'd think a little extra violence isn't a huge deal.

Either way, this is the version in front of us... I already invested my 4.5 gigs, so I am happy. Now to watch Last Samurai.

Especially since the film already carries an R rating, are adults no longer able to use their own judgement? Now the MPAA have to decide what the general population of adult viewers should and should not see and/or how they should see it?

You said it! I've seen sicker stuff on the Discovery Channel HECK, Passion of Christ was pretty violent (much more realisticly graphic too!)

200$ damn, for a few little extra's...

Their are times during the movie when the charactors speak only Japanese. Several scenes such as the Brides initial interaction with her swords tutor (i forget his name) for example. In the English release of the film these scenes are subtitled. What they meant was, being the Japanese release, these scenes may not be subtitled at all.

You can get that Japanese disc for alot cheaper ordering direct. The "Premium Box" is sold out just about everywhere. Some still available here, though, last I checked...

Regular version...

http://www.hmv.co.jp/Product/Detail.asp?sku=1888767

As for the subs, there will be an English audio track and English subs for the entire film ONLY. In other words, you'll have to keep the English subs on through the whole film.

Really, its just hooah

10/10/9.6

The release itself is wonderful. Removed items are not accesible and do not crash the dvd. The video is wonderful (untouched, if I remember correctly). Audio is perfect. The movie is great also. I am 100% satisfied with this release. Thanks Replica.

Finally got my hands on this...
The quality's what to be expected from a recent Replica release- top notch...Everything is as it's stated in the nfo (video = untouched, sound = 5.1).. This will definitly hold you over until you can pickup the japanese version.

Officially a 'cant miss' release.

10/10/whatever you thought of the movie.
