Monster *PROPER* *NTSC* - DVDRIP - aNBc

Well... aNBc did a "Monster" fuck up here... And it's really getting scary with these groups and their lack of brains to look at what they are releasing.

The issue at hand is, VIDEO_TS.VOB. It is a 556,152KB file containing a 15 second Columbia Tristar thing and rest black screen. I guess DVD companies have successfully gauged the lack skill or sheer laziness of these groups.

How can you miss 1/2 a gig black screen WHILE bragging about keeping bitrate high?! It would have been BETTER to keep the fucking DTS track than this.

Video is nothing great (4448kbit/sec for a 1.85:1 is approx. the same as 3330kbit/sec on a 2.35:1).

This is a 10 minute fix to trim that Columbia Tristar logo to 28 megs and fix the IFO. I guess aNBc rather take that time and brag about how their chapters are more plentiful than the R6 release earlier.

Real disappointment to see this crap. I want my DVD-R back HAHA.

Anyways, another rip I'll end up doing myself. I should just cancel my internet and rent movies instead.

VIDEO 7/10 - Quality is EHH... On a 27"CRT you'll be cruising. I noticed it looked pretty mid grade blurry. Don't have the orig to compare it to, will have to wait till June 1 I guess.

DVD-R 1/10 - Giving the ass poor score here for the missing that file. It was missed in Miracle the second time also. Do people not know how to trim files and re-do the sectors in the IFO?! And if that's the case, they shouldn't brag about keeping bitrate high... If they got that file fixed up the bitrate could have been ~5000kbit/sec.

Cut and Paste from NFO:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There menu size is 414k about the size of the few jpgs in menu
Ours menu size is 543 mbs unedited
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Them saying "there" menu is 543mbs and not knowing the menu is in VTS_01_0.VOB which is 17.94mbs. That's like saying they don't know "there" fucking ass from "there" elbow (and that's a big ass and a small elbow).

Slim Intoxicado

had aNBc reduced it originally, now thats a different story. but nothing needs to be fixed. reducing it now wont do anything for the quality. watched this on a 61" widescreen and had no issues whatsoever with the rls. bitrate is fine IMHO...

There is nothing wrong with the functionality of the release. No fix is needed.

As mentioned, the video was ehh, but that's about it. For a drama, it was adequite of course.

As for Spongebob's comment... I agree, reducing the 1/2 gig file now won't do jack now.

My beef was that aNBc did an actual poor ass job on the release, not really the quality. Claiming all this shit about the highest quality and bitrate when they completely missed a 1/2 gig file. Point being, I'd be happier if they did:

Monster *proper* *DTS* at 4448kbit/sec

instead of

Monster *proper* *useless 1/2gig file containing black screen* at 4448kbit/sec

If people complain that the DTS track would be useless for this movie (which it would be), what do you call a 517meg file of black screen? And top it off thinking it's a MENU (as they mention in the NFO)?!?! Let us hope that groups won't miss these files as they appear to be a form of protection.

SIDE NOTE TO SPONGEBOB:
I also watched it on my new 61" also and saw alot of stuff. I am really picky though.

Quick TV talk for all looking to buy a big TV: I got rid of my 70" LCD XBR because of pixels blowing every day (had like 8 blue, 6 red in a week!!). Went to the Samsung Tantus 61" DLP one. So far it's damn good (especially color)... Not as sharp though. But cost me $5k less than the XBR! LCDs look NICE and SHARP, but their warranties blow!! Warning to people out there. I was lucky to have a return case (criteria is 3 blown pixels in the middle within 6 months within a 5" square!). However, it took me around 1 full hour to show him the pixels were blown and he didn't see them (or didn't want to see them). I needed to use my signal generator to prove it to the guy. Some people have dozens of blown pixels and don't even know it (laptops or TVs).

But, I am guilty of exchanging my DLP because of a stuck mirror (which is blown pixel) also already! (got a replacement set after having the TV only 3 days). Been super since.

Mitch Hedberg 1968-2005

Im in agreement with porco556.... Im also a stickler for details, and this could be classified as a blunder... Although, even with that said, the movie does look solid - technical issues aside.

Looks solid on both my 27" and on my 50"... Cant go wrong on picking this one up.
