alba 114 from tesco`s

i can burn any films that come as a bin/cue with fireburner on my `alba dvd114` and they work fine but i cant make my own vcds
i ve been trying with nero to make vcds and svcds with a small mpeg file with every concievablbe option changed (with and without menus)but it just wont see em.
whats going on, im using nero 5990

i have 100`s of divx that i want to make into vcds but i cant make my own i thought everyone swore by nero
any help appreciated
