whoa.. sweeeet !! Looks like this Christmas ill be home watching all these movies.. too many rips coming out in short time... my nets and hard drives gonna come apart i think ......

got hold of the movie right now.. amazing quality .. it has the "property of pixar... do not duplicate" logos coming up.. did not come across and b/w scenes while scrolling thru it"

yup it needs to be 2cd coz its more difficult to encode coz its 3d and not 2d which can be compressed.. 3d is more difficult to encode because excessive colours and large textures are used

I think you're supposed to rate the release =)

9.5/9/6

Again a fairly dull pixar movie. But I know I'm a minority..

I dun wanna sound like a sad guy, but I'm taken aback by how this release has been put out. First it's a cartoon and second it's a DVDSCR.

Cartoon's are a lot easier to encode than real-life stuff, animated movies are just 'encoder friendly'. So this release could've easily been 1CD. I mean to say I've seen non-cartoon movies which deserved 2-3CD/AC3 put out as 1CD. Also considering this is a DVDSCR, it didn't need to be 2CD.

Sorry about that outburst, but I'm really, really surprised this movie's 2CD when it needn't be. With all that said I can't but give the release good marks, as it is.

This is about 2 hours long, you couldn't have this and 5.1 AC3 onto 1CD, and thats the main reason people get 2CD releases.

Also good CGI is not a cartoon, CGI can have nearly as much detail as live action.

Anyway, I got CD1 of this and it looks and sounds great, wish the messages weren't there, but considering i thought this was months off, im quite happy.

No offense but you're dead wrong. Have you actually tried encoding these pixar movies to mpeg4 ? They aren't like the Simpsons or Futurama. They don't have big blocks of static color. They're just as complex as any live action movie. Worse in many cases. Lots of movement. Lots of colors. Incredible detail (pun not intended!). They're not cartoons in the traditional sense and they shouldn't be judged as such. In fact due to the vibrant colors and sharp detail these movies can really suffer if you try and over compress them.

Having said all that this release looks very watchable indeed. :-)

Exactly. I re-encoded this to DVD using CCE, and it gave better quality using the settings that are normally used for live action than the CGI settings.

Excellent release, nearly perfect! Great sound too.

Overall really nice quality, looks good on my pc,
but looks terrible on my phillips dvp642, colors are wrong, and
there are trails, 90% of my other divx/xvids work perfectly, so no big deal, just reencode, or better off get the svcd or dvdr if your playing it on standalone dvd/divx player.

and this isnt 3d, its 2d. I checked, I played the movie and looked behind my monitor, and on the sides too, just a plastic casing.

Counter Terrorist

Extremely good rip and great sound. This had to be a 2CD release. The picture quality of this film would definately have suffered otherwise, especially in the actuion scenes.
Did anyone check out the bad quality of the 1CD release of Finding Nemo ages ago? That was horrible to watch. Blotchy and all the colours were messed up.

Scrolled through on PC, colours were fine. Watched it on my DVD player and the quality is amazing.

9/9/9

Another decent film to go under Pixar's belt, and well done DVL for a decent release.

Hehe, yes I have encoded cartoons such as this to MPEG4 (XviD). I prefer RV10 over XviD though.. tried that? I wouldn't suggest that it could've been 1CD if I didn't know atleast some background about encoding and the fact cartoons are highly compressable.

I bet you if this had been released as 1CD nobody would've minded, it's a DVDSCR afterall.

1CD XviD + MP3 sound = fine for a DVDSCR of a cartoon. I wouldn't settle for that when the retail comes out though.

The reason why you have problems with this movie on hardware players is that the movie was encoded using a MPEG Custom quantization matrix - not all players support this and it certainly doesn't form part of the "DivX certified for Home Theatre" accreditation requirements. I'm not sure what release scene rules are enforced these days but if its TDX2002, then theres no mention of any such requirement to use default H.263 or MPEG matrices when encoding.
