This is the preferred way to connect, but you need to buy a 5.1 system that includes a Dolby Digital/DTS decoder.
Alternatively, some DVD players have a built-in decoder, and output the analogue audio channels through a series of RCA connectors. Again, this'll work for DVDs but I'm not certain it'll work on AVIs.
If you do it this way, then you can buy a cheapo 5.1 amp-only system without a decoder (the type sold for use with a PC), alright for a bedroom I suppose.
that's what i thought, and i kinda goofed on the way i said it, but i was referring to dvds not divx with 5.1 (thankfully i know only the ac-3 has 5.1) i dunno, now i am just rambling, i need the morning coffee to get me started today.
well gonna go pick up my paycheck and maybe the new Yahoo! divx dvd player with 5.1 with it
