Cable tv on the computer

I can a card that has the cable screw in, like the back of the TV, i was wondering, is there anyway to thwart my cable company and get free channels or anything like that? Or is there anyway of hacking the signal as it comes into the computer.

I'm a complete noob at this, so if this isn't even close to possible, just question my sexual preference of something.

Admin?

Can I just remind people NOT to post anything specific to any Cable supplier or what hard/software is required. A general discussion about the feasibility is ok but anything specific would be illegal and against posting rules... Sorry

There even exist a program for it that 'encodes' your cable signal to viewable video .
It's pretty wellknown, so on google you should find it

MEOW DAMN IT!!!

some providers do use filters(a physical piece of hardware) to filter out HSI service from cable tv..if someone has one service, but not the other, and their provider uses such filters,it is still possible to obtain both services, but this person would need to be aware of this filter..
