Pixelation? My bet its the actual source, being either a cam or telesync (as you said a few have this problem..)

Buy the cammers better cameras, or email them advice on how to capture the screen better?

Yep, I would bet it's the source. DivX is very lossy, and is typically not a good candidate for DVD conversion. Get SVCD versions for better looking conversions.

if i have one of those dvdrips that is really good (ALLiANCE do alot of dvdrips) then i use VSO DivxToDVD. it can convert a 2hr film in just over an hour, pal or ntsc, and pixelation is minimal to none. the completed dvd is usually around 2.5GB.

if i have a less good quality dvdrip (like the
old 400-500MB rips u would have seen a while ago) or a vcd or svcd i just use TMPGEnc as i get amazing results every time

::EDIT:: like you said, u use vso divxtodvd and u use copytodvd to burn it, i use nero to burn it and have no probs. i convert to pal though so im not sure whether it will make a difference
