I want to convert a 2 file DivX movie into a DVD. The audio is in AC3 (5.1 encoding, not 2.0 or I wouldn't be concerned ). I would like to use VSO DivXToDVD, but the current version doesn't support multiple source files.

My question I guess is, if I use VirtualDubMod to combine the 2 files, will it combine the two audio tracks seamlessly as well as the video, or will it screw up the audio and I'll need to extract the audio streams and use some other editing tool to combine them?

I would try the film machine, it does a really good job of converting avi to dvd. It comes w/ all the open source programs and installs them, even the encoder. Though, I would suggest getting CCE to use with it. It will take your avi and do the whole process to the vobs, will even burn the dvd for you if you want.

Cool! Thanks, I'll give it a try! Like I said, if it was AC3 2.0 sound, I would know what to do. I was just afraid of sacrificing the 5.1 sound

i used winavi to convert the divx/xvid irobot into dvd format. then it turned into two folders, video_ts and audio _ts which u guys probably already know. then when i wanted to burn the video_ts folder to the dvd-r, nero said sorry the something something.vob file is larger than 2gb. so what am i supposed to do?

my first suggestion would be to not use WinAVI. Use an encoder like CCE or TMPG or even Sony Vegas (a recent test indicated that Vegas actually gave the best results if you weren't inclined to mess with the default settings of the first two... if you know what you're doing, CCE and TMPGEnc both give better results with CCE taking less than half the time of TMPG)

and then usae a DVD authoring program (like DVDLab, DVDArchitect, TMPG DVD Author) to turn the MPEG's into VOBs.

AVIdemux2 does a good job. It's like VD but u can encode to mpg too.

It's quality is same as tmpenc i did movie with both and avi was better cuz i was able to hit it with some filters which u cant do in tmpenc. and it's pretty fuckin fast if i do say so meself.
