I usually have no problems, when I burn multiple xvid/divx movies to a DVD, I'm using the Phillips model that plays them.. I was trying to burn the recent mr and mrs smith xvid (just released today).. It plays fine on the computer, but when I burn to DVD, i lose audio, and the picture seriously distorts, with weird color blocks.. I'm not sure exactly how to explain it. I have all the latest codecs, and I can't figure out what to do.. anybody have any ideas?
could be the xvid is out of bitrate or resolution range (or some other variable) for your philips player. probly the only way to fix it is to re encode the thing. firstly though find out in yer philips documentation what bitrates/codecs/resolutions it supports fully and come up with a good formula first and you can always check out www.doom9.org for encoding help and programs

tv-out's sucky too, but it's more functional than a standalone. Really though, spend £100 and get a box that will play anything you download, stream it across the network, off the net, play from your tivo or pvr, the lot.
