i've looked throught he forums and it seems that i need and idiots guide to the basics here... i have run lola run and want to add the english subtitles that came with it...

can someone be kind enough to point me in the directon of a laymans guide to achieving this.... either that or its to the video shop i go and hire the thing out....

what format is the movie?

hmm try the film machine.it's very free and can work with canopus or cce or quenc.

there's and option after you've loaded your avi/xvid. it's about the forth screen or so. there's an option to something similiar to.. check to add permenent subs or whatever. check that.

and go the the segment where you load your subtitle file.(click the open space to the right of the number one. and a folder appears.click that to open subs)


that's it subs added !!!

i'm going to go the attckment route.

maybe be easier to grasp.and my use of language sucks...


anyway make sure your sub file and avi are in the same folder. and they should similiar to this...

name of movie.avi
name of movie.srt(or whatever format the subs sre in)

there has to be an easier way. i tried using filmMachine and the encoding just goes on and on and on. does anyone know if there a faster way to adding the subs?

Open VirtualDubMod
Load your avi file
Select no if it's asking for an audio header rewrite
Set Video to direct stream copy
Go to Streams
Stream List -> Add Stream
Select srt file
Save as avi

Xero does that mean that to burn an avi with srt subs to dvdr, for watching on dvd player...you have to reencode the video twice ?

ie once to add subs then again to convert to vobs ?

That's why you set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy".
Means that VDubMod simply adds another stream to the avi container. No re-encoding.
Either burn several avi files onto one DVDR if your DVD player is able to read MPEG4 content or convert to MPEG2 (aka VOBs) using you're favorite program.
