Why do you people rate sound based on the type of release?! Who gives a flying crap if it's "good for a cam"...good audio is good audio. ECHOEY/HOLLOW/TINNY sound is never good, I don't care if it's from a cam. There are cams that are better than some telesyncs sometimes when the guy doesn't plug in the jack all the way, or the input is just royally screwed. There are times when a telesync is better than a dvd screener too, when the person ripping the dvd doesn't know what the heck he's doing. The point is, RATE THE RELEASE ON WHAT PEOPLE TEND TO CONSIDER "GOOD VIDEO" and "GOOD AUDIO". What on earth "9 audio FOR A CAM" means is beyond me. Does that mean only slight echo, no echo, or what?! It's retarded! perfect dvd audio vs. perfect telesync audio is nearly indistinguishable. And perfect dvd video vs. perfect telesync video (like some releases from maven) isn't so completely different in quality that it warrants putting them on entirely separate scales either. It's not as though dvd audio is always a 10, and vhs is always a 5...more like 10 and 9.5. I much prefer seeing people rate audio as a 7 max for a cam, than seeing this "9 for a cam" bullcrap...and then having us all figure out what the heck that actually means, since cams/telesyncs/dvds all vary in quality dramatically.
Good audio is good audio; good video is good video. Hollow audio is always *BAD*, period. If that's how this release is, then NO ONE should be giving this release a rating above 7 for audio.
If you guys are going to do this, then at least provide a general scale for cam vs. telesync vs. dvd, so we know how to get the REAL rating and parse out the nonsense.
Example:
Perfect Video:
DVD - 10
TELECINE - 9
CAM/TELESYNC - 8.5
Perfect Audio:
DVD - 10
TELECINE - 9.5
TELESYNC - 9
CAM - 7
At least if we had a scale like that, we could then figure out what these stupid "for a cam" comments mean, cuz we can then compute the real ratings (you know, the ones people actually CARE about!). As if anyone says to themselves "hehe, well the audio is absolute crap, but i will download this anyway, because heck, it's GOOD FOR A CAM!" This is the most retarded logic i've ever seen. Maybe we should start giving some brownie points to groups that are just starting out too...since we can only expect so much from them.
Bottom line, we aren't judges on an awards show giving out specialty prizes for different types of movie rips. We're giving ratings FOR USERS TO DECIDE WHETHER THEY SHOULD DOWNLOAD THE RELEASE OR NOT! If everyone rated releases based on their actual quality, we wouldn't even need to know whether it's a cam, telesync, dvd, or telecine...no one cares!
