Hmm... Is it me, or is this completely interlaced? If I turn on "Hardware Acceleration" in PowerDVD, it goes away mostly. On a stand-alone the interlacing is there. Wondering if the source is like that. It is a National Geographic film, can't expect a top of the line production (especially since it was film pretty down south).

For people concerned... On a regular CRT TV, you won't notice this and the release will look great (as most likely your input is always interlaced [ie: s-video/component at 480i])

when looking at the sample you can clearly see that this one's interlaced... however, like porco said, it won't be noticeable on a regular 32" wide

Well If I go default its interlaced, not that bad though.

But after a setting change in PowerDvD no problem.

Well i try to avoid hardware acceleration since it disable
my CLEV-2 enhancement that I do like.

But in this case just enable always perform de-interlacing in that tab and you will be good to go. I had some problem with performance on my old computer but not with the one I have now.

But it is interlaced for you also then. Which may mean that the encode is bad. I've got minimal experience with interlacing (other than PAL video and basic Decomb use with AVISynth). Not sure if it would be good to decomb the WHOLE movie (but I've seen it done with TV cartoons (ie: Family Guy and Futurama)...).

I doubt the video was supposed to look like that.

I wonder if these brave birds will get a re-release

Well I have not burned it yet so I cant tell how it will looks on my tv. Its not a blockbuster movie so....IF its not perfect I think I still be a happy camper.

The same deinterlace problem is something that I have seen before. For this release it wasnt that bad in default mode.
It was noticeable when they were sliding on the ice viewed from far away. Still its a nature film. So maybe I should camp out and watch the movie on a 7 inch screen to get in the mood.
