Most older (early 90's till even now) CRTs, before all the newer HDTV ready CRTs, put out 352x240, with an interlaced 352x480 using S-Video or Component. But interlacing doesn't make a higher resolution, it still is 352x240 (approx). BUT, if you have a 4:3 aspect TV, you will be using only 78% of your screen, thus pushing 720x480 onto a 352x188 pixel area of your TV. I know you're UK, so your figures are slightly higher in the vertical res (352x288 for VCD and 480 x 576 is your interlaced SVCD).
But yes, that was just an example that most people will be in heaven that intend on watching this on a standard 27". And I think that is many people here still, as big TVs really are not as cheap as they should be, plus with all the new shit coming out, it may be a while till more people have them.
Too harsh? hehe... Dunno. You seem to also agree that youdon't want this release. The DVD-9 sounds pretty good to me also, especially after I bought a boat full of DLs on Boxing Day.
This release could have been MUCH better, and I hope someone does do it. But if not, I'll wait till 24th of Jan to do it myself.
::EDIT: thanks JoshNya for the info... NERO!!! WTF! Now I heard it all.::
