Quality is pretty nice on this, only grabbed 500mb worth of rars to check quality, as i have the DVD9, but this isnt too far off it.

Video is slightly softer and blurrier on this compared to the DVD9, but the source is darkish and grainy, so some might prefer it.

Audio is a nice 5.1 EX track, and DC is a bonus, as are the extras if you want them.

Good job again Replica, even if you are moving more into Complete releases these days.

9/9/9

This looks acceptable...However, I have not been happy withthe quality that Lions Gate has been putting out. The video quality isnt wonderful, but i blame the source

8.5/9/(still undecided on the movie...may have liked the first one better; need to watch for a 3rd time)

Ehh... Not impressed. Replica is going down a road that sacrifices quality. Video needed some heavy bitrate in some areas and looked shitty. Grainy full 1.85 video and only 3 gigs for the VOB set including DC track?!

Hoping for XPDVD to do an internal. Probably won't happen, but I can hope. If not, definitely doing this myself on Valentines Day when it comes out

Video 7/10 - Source is crappy, which is all the more reason to invest more bitrate into the video to ensure that things don't get worse. Replica does great work usually and one of the first releases I am not keeping. Macroblocking appears often in solid backgrounds... In some scenes looks like DVDShrink did this. BUT a decent bitrate, just not enough for some scenes.

DVD-R 5/10 - Gig of extras... probably untouched? 385 meg menu also... Dunno... People watch the movie over and over, extras are quickly watched once over (for me 0 times in 99.9% cases) and then forgotten. Last release from Replica I erased was Bruce Almighty for the same reason, and ironically, exact same set of problems.

hehhhh

Problem is the source, not Replica reencoding. Something with Lion Gates.

I agree strongly about Replica's new releases... I liked them better when they released untouched vid quality....

But from the sample ... 8/8/7

I think there will be an internal with untouch vid....

I think the above are a bit harsh, but it does have its flaws.

porco556, the DVD9 dont look a whole lot better than this, its actually a tad grainier, something that seems to be quite common with Lions Gate DVD's recently, at least they havn't messed up the AR this time.

lostaznguy, there wont be an Untouched video release, the main movie and Menu vobs are about 5.4gb, even removing the DC and 2.0 track wouldnt bring it under 5gb.

Hmm... Grain doesn't bother me personally. I know it is a sore spot with some people, and it is purely in the quality of film the studio used. But IMO, if it is going to be grainy, then I rather see nice and sharp grain than blurry grain. When the blocking starts because of it is when I am not as happy.

Replica is a quality group, so it is hard for me to not like their stuff. And honestly surprised I wasn't bombarded with hate mail yet

But sounds promising that there is a DVD-9 floating around. Is it the R1 DVD-9? I barely touched my Boxing Day DVD+R DLs yet

I agree on if its grainy then keep it that way, and re-encoding grain is always a bad thing, but yeah, Replica do seem to be adding more extras with every release.

Yep, Region1 DVD9, well looks the same anyway, same backwards menu, english and spanish subs, 5.1, 2.0 and DC sound, if you have spare B/W and DL's lying around then i would grab it if i was you, i dont, so just got it to do my own XviD and DVD5 versions.

The only R1 DVD-9 Ive found has custom NL subs. I skipped it though because if Im going to download a dvd-9 I want it to be completely untouched. I always thought that was the whole point.

Edit: nevermind I found another R1 dvd-9 without NL subs.
