I haven't watched this release in whole, but I have scanned throught the whole thing...

This looks slightly darker than it should (after a theatre viewing) although there were no openly visible watermarks to think this was an untouched dvdscr, this does seem cropped somewhat as seeing that the WS video is smaller than Id assume it should be

This is definately the best copy, and Ill doubt if I upgrade unless with a DVDR if I feel the need after a full watch... The movie itself had much to improve...

I know movies are smaller, but to change a whole story line in such ways as this was changed from the book is ridiculous... I like it, but knowing how it is supposed to go brings down points on the movie, and it will carry into next sequel due to drastic changes that affect the next one...

8/8.5/7

Aint bad, but could have been better for sure.

They better had reduced the resolution for a nicer ar, but most of all so that the scenes with the action innit would have profit from the higher bitrate. Movie kinda needs it.

V: 6.5 - could have been alot better
A: 9 - couldnt have been better (i don't do 10's :P)
M: 6 - under pressure of my little nephew... me personally ? hate it... but love the fact that i got my little nephew off my back for quite a long time

PS. Wonder why the almighty scene hasnt nuked it yet ? Resolution over 640 ? Would have guessed some nuker on a powertrip would have gone for that hehe
Its better off not-nuked tho.. to really enjoy higher bitrate for the ppl that like this kind of movies : go for dvd9.. the kids will adore u

2005 rules allow higher than 640 Res.

quote:
Resolution and Aspect Ratio: Resolution and Aspect Ratio: - Width: 512 - 672 pixels for WS movies (Letterboxed is considered WS). │

There really isnt any reason why the Resolution cant be 720x*** as the AR varies so much on DVD's anyway, but at least by allowing up to 672x it means 2:40:1 can be done easier now.

Anyway, this is a average XviD release, not terrible but not perfect, possibly a smaller Res should of been used, maybe 576x240, but it depends on whether u prefer a smooth picture or a sharp one.

the dvdscr is a bit darker
i found many white holes in the same scenes.
so the dvdrip looks real mastered.

576x isnt fuzzy, it would be more blurry, less sharp, though there isnt a massive difference between 576 and 640, so unless u have an HDTV then you probably wouldnt notice much, and if you have a HDTV set, then why would u be getting XviD's

Also, it depends on the length and source, 576 will look much better than 720 if its a noisy or longish high action movie and your not doing 3-4 CD's

Anyway, boils down to, the video on this is average, but not great, its the same on the DVDR too, very middling, if your wanting a High Quality one, wait for the DVD9 or buy it.

i just previewed cd2 on this xvid. it's a dancing scene. it's choppy.
is this because of the frame rate? or encoding job?

Zippy The Stunt Turtle

just finished watching the whole thing... and no theres no choppy sequences, check your codecs and pc setup, the error is at your end.

this, without a doubt, one of the worst quality releases of a 'big' movie that ive ever seen... blurry, and just generally very ugly... im not debating the quality of the source, but this group just doesn't know how to rip a film decently, the resolution was insanely stupid for a film of this length... such a pity that a bad group got such a long awaited film first... for the future, nedivx (not that youll read this), pick a decent resolution, like 608x256 for a film of this length....

video: 4... just play freaking ugly
audio: 8... nothing wrong with it.
movie: 6.5, an ok flick, but the middle really dragged it down.
