Great rip.
This movie and "Me, You and Everyone we know" seem to imply that children today are seriously sexually perturbed.
How old is the younger brother in Squid? He seems grade-school age. I didn't even think one could ejaculate at that age.
I think the commentary that the writer/director is making is about the parenting style, but I wonder if he is also talking about society as a whole. Though the film takes place in '86.
When the writer/director was doing press for the theatrical release every interviewer asked him if this was auto-biographical. After watching, I understand why the question was asked and why Noah was so quick to deny.
Still, it's a really well written film, and very well acted. Poor Laura Linney, she's never even won a golden globe. She's so good. And I remember the older child from the short-lived Fox show "Get Real". Anne Hathaway also came out of that show.
