Talking I found a decent deal....

Sorry to the mods I know this isnt really the right forum but the one it belongs in really didnt seem active enough so people would see it..

About 3 months ago I went searching for a dvd player that played divx movies and found out first off aint that many out there yet and secondly that the ones i found at best buy and circuit city and the likes was more than I wanted to spend on a dvd player that the only real difference from the dvd player i had was the divx play back. I was like ok I know i want one but I'm a cheapskate and I got a good dvd player already so heck with it I'll live with what I got. So couple days later my wife asks me to go to walmart... Actually thats a lie she didn't ask.. err actually she may have asked but I think most married men will agree that its not an optional thing..u gotta do it or 5 years from now u hear " I asked you to go to walmart...."

Anyhow lets back on the subject... I'm picking up some blank dvd's and walk by wally world's fine selection of dvd players... LOL... and there I saw it.. A CHEAP dvd player that plays divx movies.. ok for you " Gotta Have The Best Gear Money Can Buy " maybe its not the whip... but hey for $37.88 its a steal.. I fit 4-5 movies on a 4.7gig dvd in divx or xvid plays them both. It doesnt have the fanciest of menu's but hey I fit a whole season of Hero's on 1 dvd hehe again I'm a cheapskate so it works for me.. oh btw last week i went in circuit city and they had 50 pack of dvd-r and dvd+r for $ 8.99 brand name NexxTech ( only bad thing is they're 8x) but again for the money i cant complain.

Oh almost forgot the dvd player is a Magnavox Progressive Scan DVD Player w/ DivX, MWD7006 . You can check walmart's website its there.

Again sorry to the mods for putting this in general instead of the dvd hardware forum.

Admin?

The DVD section is quiet because people bypass it and post in the general discussion forum instead I've moved this thread but I've left a link in GD.

I like to move it move it

good find! (if your in the US)

could only find that model on ebay, but it is shipped from the states and would end up costing you about £40 with postage (and maybe customs charges on top of that).

if your in the uk, there are other alternatives such as a Umax which includes a card reader and a usb port for £30!

I've had my eye on that dvd player for a while because of the price. I want it, I just don't want to spend any money on another dvd player, I'm living without one now. I have a xvid player in the living room. So I don't really need one in the bedroom.

I do plan on getting it for the bedroom so the GF doesn't use my pc for movies while I'm at work.

But I really want that dvd player ELJ has in my living room with my dvd recorder. I want it.

DVD-Divx players

Seconds up on the Philips 5960

Has onboard Q-pel & Global motion compensation
plays 99% of all Divx/Xvids i've thrown at it (only supports .avi upto 720 wide res.)

USB port is brill. just Drag-&-Drop to a USB-pendrive and plug in (supports fat32 only). even handles portable harddrives (fat32 only)

It's cheap as chips, works really well, and available all over the planet - Wicked

:MOD EDIT: ..I've deleted your plugs for this player from the comments threads as they don't belong there. Do you work for Philips? -V

Picked this dvd player up today for the bedroom, and it's garbage.

Most Xvid/divx files don't fill the screen. Theres a border on all four sides.

My girl downloaded season 1 of scrubs, and the screen was about 1/3 size of what it should have been, and when it was zoomed it looked fucking horrible.

If you want this as a divx player, Don't waste your fucking money, Will be taking this back tomorrow.
