reinstalling os

i just ordered a legit vista upgrade...i am running xp media ed...i have a legit media ed cd

questions(i havent read the vista threads)
are there many compatibility probs with vista?

and if so...im planning on reinsatalling media ed as a 2ndary os(the reinstall is to clean up any damage from installing and un installing apps)...
is it wise to attempt this for a tard like me?...and what should i be careful of to prevent another dong thread

lastly....if i have to reformat my c/ drive..i dont have a floppy drive installed or a floppy to boot off of....what should i do?

set boot sequence to cd-rom then format it that way with the windows cd in the drive.

::EDIT::

my version of Vista has media centre built in, so there is no need to be running both operating systems.
