Fix it yourself, I have heard from numerous reports that this does infact work on a lot of cases, but not all. Try it for yourself. There is a reason it works, Just search for it.

I just got a xbox back which had exactly the same problem.... hats off to MS I got the thing back in less than 5 working days. I take it, it must be a common problem.

I'm kind of bothered that it happened to me, but I did have a launch unit, and it only took 4 days for me to have it back in hand. They are really good about getting those boxes here and back.

Was speaking to someone on my friends list the other day , his friend had been offline for 93days because he had to send his xbox back , apparently they addressed it wrong 6 times !!

As a good will gesture though they're suposed to be sending him the back catalog of xbox360 games.

Finally got it back 2day just under 2 weeks

the motherboard was fucked

i got a new 1 !!

and a 1 month free live card

so quite happy all in all

I've come to realize, Software wise the 360 is great, but hardware wise it is a complete failure.

3 rings of death because it over heats,
The fans inside are pure shit, I went over my friends place yesterday and the fan was yelling very loudly. It was impossible to enjoy a game. He is going to replace the fan, but jesus crist this machine is a piece of shit.


It sucks because I like some of the games, I wanted one, but I am seriously reconsidering it now.

The 3-rings blow, I got them about 3 weeks ago after only owning the console for 3 months...if there is a rule of three, you can see it here, 3-rings, owned 3 months (my original Xbox overheated too after 3 months of ownership as well, fryed that shit)...but I made the smart decision this time to buy that retarded Best Buy "service" plan which allowed me to immediately swap out the broken system for a new one. I'm hoping that I won't get the 3-rings again, but I most likely will but if its still withing the service contract it'll be alright. If anyone is considering buying a 360, try and find a place that has an extended warranty so you don't have to worry about this shit for the first couple of years of the consoles life.

Mine lasted about 6 months. I said fuck it and cracked it open to to see if just the CPU fan was failing. HAHA. There is no CPU fan? WTF? A tri-core simultaneous multithreading chip with each core clocked to 3.2Ghz and no CPU fan. Just a cheesey, plastic, loose-fitting tunnel to the system fans? I can't imagine why these fuckers are blistering and self-destructing?


I found forums on the m$ site with people claiming that they didn't get the same machine they sent. Some of the ones sent in had the tamper sticker broken and they still got refurbs.
Sounds like the service center is is so swamped in the US that they are just shipping refurbs before they even look at the ones they are recieving.

I am SO surprised. This is not something m$ would do.

I'm gonna try and send in my "voided machine" and see what happens. I won't be buying ANYTHING until the 65nM chips hit which supposedly got pushed to "mid 2007"

how can u go wrong with a 3yr warranty????

by the time ur warranty is up the next next generation console will be in the pipeline

and the 360 will probably cost sub £100 by then anyway

so if it lasts u 3 yrs from today before it shags its still good value in my opinion

but wait i still have a fully working sega megadrive
