Ok so I picked up a Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop from a friend. The thing is when you power on the laptop it directly asks for a password. I tried backdoor passwords and thought I could just pull the battery but it is soldered on the mobo. Any one know a way to crack a bios pass. It doesn’t have a floppy drive just dvd-rom. Thanks for any help

I don’t think it’s stolen he bought it off eBay. It set the password after he removed a camera from a usb port and the computer crashed I think it’s a bug in the current bios. If I can ever get into it I was going to reflash the bios with the latest version.

Choices:

If it has a parallel port, you can make (or buy) a key to reset the PW. It is basically a crosswired parallel loopback adapter. WOrks for most Toshibas with a parallel port. I used one on my old Tosh and it did fine. Check Ebay, they can be found there for under 20bucks.

If a parallel port is not an option, you can desolder the CMOS battery and let it reset (sometimes shorting the poles of this battery will cause a reset without desoldering, try it first)

Outside of that, you have one REAL option which is to replace the MB.

So far no luck with anything it doesn’t have a parallel port. The battery is glued on along with the post soldered on I don’t want to risk anything with that. Looks like his only option is sending it to Toshiba and pay $125 to have them open it up. I can’t believe a stupid password is this hard to get through I could see if it had the fingerprint biometric but just a password who would of thought it was that bullet proof.

did a little digging and found this:

"Toshiba has a known problem with this model of laptop. It has been known to set its bios password by itself. It is a simple fix, but should be done by a proffesional. There is no charge for this repair at a toshiba repair center.
If you want, this is what needs to be done. Remove the piece of plastic above the keyboard. Unscrew the 2 screws in the keyboard and lift the keyboard up( No reason to disconnect it ) Unscrew and remove the modem card in the center. There is 2 solder points c88 on the system board. You need to short those 2 points out while you press the power button on. This will reset the bios password. This should take someone about 5 minutes to do. "

remove power from the MB for more than 30 seconds it resets everything
