XBOX360 - Linux Streaming
All right, I don't have a 360 yet, getting a nice paycheck come end of the may so that's in the works, I'm trying to work with my friend on doing this:
Linux-based native system, He's using Ubuntu Gutsy right now, I'd either be using Hardy or regular Debian.
I had him run a virtual machine (virtual box) of XP, bridge the network connection, and mount his linux filesystem within the virtual machine, he installed WMP11 on it (we know for a fact from this point, files actually in the virtual machine are streamed fine.)
Now I assumed we would be able to either put a shortcut, or mount the ext3 filesystem directly to the folder that WMP11 streams to the 360.
Now, if you see what I'm getting at, is this plausible? He was having issues but he gave up and went to sleep, I figured I would put this out there to see if there is a much easier way to stream content from linux or if this seems like the best and most-compatible route (our goal is xvid streaming and possibly x264 when the rumored upgrade to play that will possibly be installed).
Any pointers would be great, thanks in advance.
edit: feel free to move to computer help if it might be better there, I just figured this would be a good spot.
