Ok, I'm going to try this in here. Last time I posted a PC related thread it never got any responses, So I'm posting this in here. If you feel the need to move it do so.


I have a 120gb HDD that has Windows on it.

I have a 40gb HDD I wanna put a different OS on it.

Is it possible to use both? Not boot at the same time, but use a boot manager or something and choose which OS I wanna boot.

I don't see why not, but idk. I mean, you can put 2 different OS' on one HDD, so why not...

Yeah I know I can do that, but who the hell want's to do that?

I could also creat two partitions on the 120gb HDD which is probably the best idea, but I don't know if I wanna do that. That's the best option so far.

Well, I decided after I realized I don't have a free power cable in my case just to use my 160gb HDD and create a dual boot with both Os's.

So now I'm running Win XP/Mac Os X 10.5.2

After I figured out the correct install method with this particular copy of Os X it worked like a charm. I didn't have to search for drivers for the sound/video/nic/NOTHING. It all just works.

What's funny as shit is, I've had nothing but problems using Linux, and yet Os X isn't suppose to run on AMD hardware at all but yet it runs 10x better than Linux. WTF? LOL.

i would've used that as a good time to start using vmware... pull up the second os when you need it without rebooting... or without having to pause your tranny torrents.

Yeah, but it runs a lot slower when you do that. I wanted it to run at full speed. Secondly I think Os X is a bit better of an Os, but I can't afford Mac hardware, lol. So this is the next best thing.

Hooked up my tv through the HDMI cable and that worked perfect.

Problems I had with Tiger are Dual display didn't work. Had to buy a USB sound card, and took me a week to figure out the network issues I was having.

With Leo, it took a few installs on a secondary HDD, but no issues. Everything just works. I can play all my HD movies.

VmWare is great if you just wanna try it out. It would have been easier to set that up than to hook up the old HDD. It worked out perfect. I prefer to have a dual boot, So both run at native speed.
