hard drive age varies, and warranties vary as well. drives all used to come with 5 year warranties, then they went to 3, now some drives only give you a year.
so in general, in a computer that never moves, doesnt experience power surges, and isn't constantly spinning? you could get 5-7 years... in a constantly spinning tossed around computer with no sides on the case and poor house wiring causing it to power off abruptly.... keep your receipt.
