Basically I'm wondering where the best place is to go to get hosting and overall a decent site.
Some requirements that I want are that I can have user profiles for everyone who signs up. At least a couple thousand users maybe for now; and a forums, some email addys...the basics.
I'm not really sure what I need to be looking for at the moment.
anyone have any suggestions on even where to begin with something like this?

Well of the top of my head you need to work out the following
How much storage space will you need for emails,(pm's etc) how much traffic will you generate a day (be avatars, attachments etc) as well as server repair and upgrade with growing number of users.
Then you have sponsors for the site as the more bandwidth you eat up the more the running costs will shoot up
Then you got where do you want the server based usa, asia, ru, or eu, also the name for your site has to be paid for if available
Neversoft may be the 1 to chat with if you can catch or Vampire
I use freehostia and love it. I currently have a free site with no adds or anything, just a freehostia in the web address. They also offer a paid service and eventually I'm going to set that up.

yeah it's really hard for anyone to compete with bluehost's offers for any type of regular web site,

Unlimited File Transfer
Host unlimited Domains
2,500 POP/Imap Email Accounts
SSH (Secure Shell), SSL, FTP, Stats
and more of the basics like shopping carts and ad-words, etc etc.
for $6.95/month, only issue is you have to order it I believe yearly.
Still though that can't be beat at all and they are quite a successful company and were a major competitor of mine when I was working in hosting.
Well unless you are going to make a fan site for the best website ever then don't bother.
Brief description of the rules.
While helpless the wrestler in control earns (style) points by fingering and fondling the helpless wrestler, the helpless wrestler earns (shame) points at the same time. Style and shame points follow a wrestlers career, on their permanent record. The winner decides how loser gets fucked in the last round.
The rules are set: (1) Three tags per team, per round. (2) Three 12-minute non-scripted wrestling rounds. (3) Last round consists of the winners tying up, dominating, humiliating, and brutally fucking the losers
