I hope the scene figures out how to retain 3D!

I have a FIELD SEQUENTIAL device with shutter glasses.
I'm sure that if people can start grabbing DECENT sources of these 3D movies, some type of conversion can be done between the polarized source and that.
Just as long as they don't go anaglyph - YUCK! (Red & blue is anaglyph and it's totally retarded)
This film is polarized which uses clear glasses in theatre, left polarized 1 way, right polarized another, to achieve 3d in full color.
The field sequential glasses shutter between left and right frames by receiving them interlaced when the TV sends them that way.
I don't know why the polarized method couldn't be done on a normal TV set but I do know you can convert between field sequential and anaglyph so theoretically, you should be able to convert between polarized and anaglyph too.
The scene needs to figure out a solution to this because the technology exists to do it.
Also, they're making 3D compatible HDTVs now as well which is probably the best way to go, even though I sure would like my shutter glasses supported simply because I own them! 8)
As far as the movie is concerned, the idiots obviously don't understand how 3D works so when they fucked with the source they destroyed any possibility of retaining the 3D.
M - Plan on seeing in theatre so I won't watch this shit version.
Quality of release = Unwatchable

I think it may be more trouble than its worth!

* You would need to capture the movie twice from the same fixed position (if one of the captures has the camera moved position its game over and it will not work. It would take a lot of work to re-sync the viewing frame

* One capture using the left eye polarised filter and one capture using the right eye polarised filter. This could be achieved by using the polarised lenses in the glasses.

*The reald system is specifically installed in selected sites in the world and would be easier to trace a bootlegged version back to the specific projector if they wanted to (eg. watermark the digital copy)

There are people who can change anaglyph into field sequential using the 2D version as a guide to work out the right colors and frame. So when the 3d version is released on dvd or blue ray it works better.

The new tv's that can do 3d are mostly using the same polarised glasses (not the shutter type i may add). The screen does the same thing that the REALD hardware does that is front of the Digital projector in the cinema (next time you go to a realD show have a look up at the projector it looks like one of those old monitor filters. This changes to left and right polarity light filtering at 140 frames a second back and forth in sync with the left and right alternating frames being shot through it onto the ZSCREEN which is coated with aluminum paint to reflect more light as the glasses darken your vieweing slightly. thats roughly how it works and your eyes dont see the 140 frame projection, therefore a 3d image is put together in your brain

Finally 3d is in its early stages and we are still to see the home boom in 3d home cinema, until this it just aint worth the amount of work.

See it at your cinema if you really have to.

This isn't a red & blue anaglyph 3D movie, technology is way past that. Hell the last major motion done that way (as far as I can recall, having worked in movie theatres for over a decade) was the 3D Nightmare On Elm Street movie. I'm not sure how this 3D works, as it's all on new digital equipment that I don't have experience with, but this uses the "clear glasses" everyone's familiar with, and the filmcomes from one digital projector the same as any ordinary film, no filters or second projectors used. Whether or not this would translated to cam or telecine being able to recreate the same type of effect with glasses at home on your television, I couldn't say. I'd love to give it a shot though I hear the 3D in this is actually well-done, and throughout the entire movie as it doesn't give you a headache after 30 seconds like the old type of 3D does.
