Anyone know if I can get this chipped so it'll play CD-R's and the like?

Got it the other day (not cheap), and was told I could get it mod-ed so it'll play everything. So far the only discussions i've read tell me it can't be done. Something to do with having the laser replaced?

chipping generally does not add CDR/CDRW compatability, its mainly for the following things :

* Multi Region play back
* Macrovision removal
* FBI Warnings skip

(not all chips support all 3, its the M/R bit thats important)
