Homemaker Helena has an argument with her workaholic husband Claudio because he refuses to travel to Italy on holiday and leave the agency where he works. So Helena throws him out of their house and he moves to the apartment of his single friend Nelsinho in Arpoador. Meanwhile, their spoiled daughter discovers that she's pregnant and wants to inform her parents.
