³ ³ Desmond Doyle is devastated when his wife abandons their family³ ³
³ ³ on the day after Christmas. His unemployment and the fact that ³ ³
³ ³ there is no woman in the house to care for the children, ³ ³
³ ³ Evelyn, Noel and Brendan, make it clear to the authorities ³ ³
³ ³ that his is an untenable situation. The Catholic Church and ³ ³
