Group Notes:
We'd like to take a moment to clear up a few issues
concerning the recent propers by Crimson. Crimson claims
our releases are inconvenient to play back on a
computer due to the bin/cue being composed of segmented
mpegs. Actually this is not a problem as a bin/cue can
be mounted quickly with Daemon tools. It will then
be recognized as a virtual drive and play back as soon
as an application like windvd is launched. THIS IS A LOT
FASTER THEN EXTRACTING MPEGS WITH VCDGEAR! It is some what
assumed that people will burn to cd since it is HDTV and
worthy of archiving. We never thought people would want
to extract and save it on a hard drive. Its still a moot
point that its difficult to play back because its not
(see above). The added advantage to segments is the audio
is a lot less likely to become out of sync as a single
mpeg. If you have ever had to resync a show you'll
appreciate this. Segmenting in svcd isnt new. In a
discussion with other tv groups SD-6 came foward to say
that segments in svcd is compliant and they definately
would not proper over that. Given our history we have
some new found respect for them.
As for the issue of bitrate. All our releases are
encoded VBR. Most tv shows dont exceed the max we
use of 2450 kbps vs time. In addition each segment is
still analyzed for scenes with fast motion and distributed
accordingly.
Crimson is a fairly new group to tv and we have noted
their speed increasing lately. However we'll all have
a lot more respect for them if they win the releases
they can and continue to try and challenge on others.
Using unnecessary propers and misleading false
accusations of poor quality against well established
groups wont earn respect. QLTVCD will sit back and
laugh as you proper yourself out of the game. Step up
and beat us to the release. Then we will either kick it
up a notch, figure out a better strategy or move on
to what we can win. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!
Either way it will be more fun then the bitter path
Crimson has chosen. Their last nfo certainly took
a swipe at more then just QLTVCD.
