Plot
Andr¨¦ Jurieux, having just landed in France to a hero's welcome,
is dismayed by the absence of the married Christine at his reception.
His friend Octave - also a friend of Christine's - agrees to help and
arranges for Andr¨¦ and Christine to meet at a chateau where she and h
er husband Robert will be hosting guests. Though the seriousness of the
relationship between Andr¨¦ and Christine is unknown, she represses her u
rges to leave with him. The guests take up shooting rabbits and birds
on one afternoon. When Christine takes a look through some binoculars
to find some animals, she catches him meeting his mistress off in the
distance. A poacher named Marceau is hired to take care of the rabbit
problem and begins to make advances on the wife of the head of security,
Schumacher, at the chateau. Near the end of everyone's stay, there is a
costumed ball where all of the feuding parties fight it out. Christine
admits her feelings for Andr¨¦ and they agree to leave together. Schumacher i
s fired for shooting at Marceau, but Schumacher's wife rebukes them both.
The two men reconcile when they see Octave with who they think is Schumacher's
wife, but it is really Christine. Octave and Christine also are in love and she
agrees to leave with him instead. But Schumacker plans to shoot Octave if he
sees him come back to the greenhouse where Christine is waiting. The three men
fighting over Christine (Octave, Robert, Andr¨¦) all meet as Octave is getting h
er coat and Octave cannot betray his friend, giving the coat to Andr¨¦ and sealing h
is fate.
