ÞÛ²Ý First off I'd like to state that I am rather disappointed
Þ²Ûß that this NFO is even necessary. But apparently the
ÞÛÛÝ majority of the nukers in the scene are unaware of the
ÞÛÛÝ fact that not every movie is exactly 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
ÞÛÛÝ Many movies are closer to 2.40:1 than they are to 2.35:1.
ÞÛÛÝ That happens to be the case with this movie. The aspect ratio
ÞÛÛÝ of the original source is 2.417:1. In order to prove this I
ÞÛÛÝ have included several pictures. First take a look at
ÞÛÛÝ notebook_ar_proof_1.jpg. You will notice that it's not quite
ÞÛÛÝ fully cropped. This is intentional so that you see that I am
ÞÛÛÝ not overcropping it in the next step. Also note that this
ÞÛÛÝ movie contains no side borders, hence the 0 cropping on the
ÞÛÛÝ left and the right. Now open up notebook_ar_proof_2.jpg and
ÞÛÛÝ take a look. You will notice that the top borders are now
ÞÛÛÝ fully cropped. Now take a look at the aspect ratio, which is
ÞÛÛÝ circled in red. It's 2.417 not 2.35:1!!! Also look at the
ÞÛÛÝ apect ratio error that you get when using the max resolution
ÞÛÛÝ of 640x272 (2.35:1). It's off by 2.7 percent. That's enough
ÞÛÛÝ that we would certainly consider it a bad aspect ratio. Now take
ÞÛÛÝ a look at the 3rd picture. This picture shows the cropping
ÞÛÛÝ and resolution that we used on our release. Take note of
ÞÛÛÝ the original aspect ratio, aspect ratio of the resized resolution,
ÞÛÛÝ and the aspect ratio error. The aspect ratio error at this
ÞÛÛÝ resolution is less than one percent and it was not necessary
ÞÛÛÝ to crop into the picture to achieve a decent AR error.
ÞÛÛÝ Now for those of you that still aren't convinced, take
ÞÛÛÝ a look at pictures four, five, and six. Picture 4 shows
ÞÛÛÝ that you end up with a aspect ratio error greater than
ÞÛÛÝ one percent when using 608x256 (a 2.35:1 resolution). Now if
ÞÛÛÝ you still cant get it through your thick skull that this movie
ÞÛÛÝ is not supposed to be 2.35:1 take a look at pictures 5 and 6.
ÞÛÛÝ Picture 5 shows that it is necessary to crop 6 frames off each
ÞÛÛÝ side of the picture in order to minimize the aspect ratio error
ÞÛÛÝ at 608x256. Picture 6 shows that you must crop 10 frames from
ÞÛÛÝ each side of the picture in order to minimize the error at
ÞÛÛÝ 640x272. Now would you rather have a cropped picture with
ÞÛÛÝ part of the sides missing so that you can keep your precious
ÞÛÛÝ 2.35:1 aspect ratio or would you rather have the full picture
ÞÛÛÝ with the proper aspect ratio? We certainly prefer the full picture
ÞÛÛÝ at the proper aspect ratio. If you still don't believe us download
ÞÛÛÝ the included vob sample and check it out for yourself. You might
ÞÛÛÝ also want to think about getting your head examined.

ÞÛÛÝ Alright now to deal with the second bullshit/idiotic claim that I
ÞÛÛÝ see being made. This movie is aproximately 124 minutes long. Many
ÞÛÛÝ of you nukers are saying that our release is undersized because
ÞÛÛÝ it is one cd instead of two and that the average is low. Well
ÞÛÛÝ the average is a bit lower than usual but that does not mean the
ÞÛÛÝ quality is. The average quantization on our encode is 3.32. That
ÞÛÛÝ is pretty damn good. The only place where its over quant 6 is at
ÞÛÛÝ the end credits which is normal because we encode our credits
ÞÛÛÝ with quant 8 settings. Take a look at the included screenshot
ÞÛÛÝ and note that 96.1% of the movie is under quant 4. Just because
ÞÛÛÝ the average isn't all that high doesn't mean the quality isn't
ÞÛÛÝ excellent. This movie consists of mainly dark scenes, which
ÞÛÛÝ happen to compress very well. Especially if your using B-Frames.
ÞÛÛÝ We could have done this at 640x272 (max allowed resolution) on
ÞÛÛÝ one CD with no problem at all because it compresses so well. But
ÞÛÛÝ we chose not to because 640x272, as stated above, yields improper
ÞÛÛÝ aspect ratio. Now before anyone continues to argue that this movie
ÞÛÛÝ is undersized I suggest looking at the actual quality of the
ÞÛÛÝ release itself if the numbers provided do not convince you.
ÞÛÛÝ Hopefully all you sheep nukers have eyes that can distinguish between
ÞÛÛÝ good quality and bad quality. Since I doubt any of those that sheep
ÞÛÛÝ nuked this release will download the full release and
ÞÛÛÝ actually check the quality I have included 3 more samples that will
ÞÛÛÝ show you just how good the quality actually is. If you still think it
ÞÛÛÝ should be nuked for undersized or bad aspect ratio after reading this
ÞÛÛÝ NFO, watching the samples, and checking the jpegs, then you are just
ÞÛÛÝ an ignorant sheep nuker.
