When Napoleon's army discovered the Rosetta Stone in the Nile Delta,
scholars believed they would be able to decipher Egypt's strange
language, but 20 years later the hieroglyphs were still baffling
everyone. It took a duel between two geniuses - Jean-Francois
Champollion in France and scientist Thomas Young in England - to
finally settle the matter.
