The British monarchy is regularly dismissed as a soap opera, so it's
perhaps only fitting that this dramatised account of the love affair
between Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles is soapier than an
entire week's washing. That said, and providing you take not a minute
of this with any seriousness whatsoever, it's great fun. After all, I'm
sure no-one involved would have the nerve to claim this is anything
more than a fantasy: Charles and Camilla are highly unlikely to have
vouchsafed many accounts of their private conversations to scriptwriter
William Humble. Laurence Fox is particularly good as Charles, while
Olivia Poulet is completely believable as a hearty, flirty Camilla. As
for Diana, she's a fairly peripheral figure, though the actress who
plays her, Michelle Duncan, looks disconcertingly like former BBC
royal correspondent Jennie Bond.
