  :  SYNOPSIS :::::
  :  
  :   Atmospheric "Hellsing" pales next to earlier vampire anime.Newly arrived on 
  :   DVD in the U.S., "Hellsing" is a Japanese animated TV series from last fall 
  :   that takes on an ambitious vampire theme. Like such earlier vampire anime as 
  :   the original VAMPIRE HUNTER D (1985) and NIGHT WARRIORS: DARKSTALKERS' REVENGE 
  :   (1997), its hero is a vampire himself who undertakes to rid his part of the 
  :   world (England, in this case) of other vampires. The hero seems to revel in 
  :   his dark side, possibly as a method of preparing himself for his bloody battles 
  :   with the undead. He is partnered with a counterbalancing figure, a cute young 
  :   blond policewoman nicknamed Little Kitty, but he turns her into a vampire as 
  :   well, albeit to save her from the effects of a deadly attack.
