Act of war or war crime? This is the question that surrounded the most
controversial event of the Falkland's War: was the cruiser outside
the 'exclusion zone' and therefore immune from attack as Argentina
claim? Or was it actively threatening British forces in the area?
Twenty years later, this programme embarks on a journey to find the
Belgrano and try to answer the puzzling questions about her mission, her
location and her sinking. Using Sonar and remotely-operated submersible,
Curt Newport goes searching for the wreck. Meanwhile, the filmmakers
interviewed veterans and survivors from both sides of the conflict to
try to piece together exactly what happened on that fateful day.
