After the Fall
Every year Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe share
an apartment in New York City. With three crowned princess
under one roof drama is bound to arise, but this year the
Pageant Place apartment may see drama on a whole new
level. Already living at the apartment is current Miss
Teen USA winner Katie Blair and the current Miss USA,
Rachel Smith. Katie used to live at Pageant Place with
former Miss USA Tara Conner, but when Katie suspected Tara
of going after her boyfriend she turned Tara in for
partying too much, causing a scandal for the Miss Universe
Organization and Tara ended up in rehab. Katie and Tara
used to be best friends but they haven't spoken since
their falling out. Joining Rachel and Katie will be Riyo
Mori, who beat out Rachel for Miss Universe. On this
season we will see what happens behind closed doors when
the crowns come off, welcome to Pageant Place.
Riyo
arrives in New York and is escorted to the apartment by
Roston, a Miss Universe Organization staff member. She
mentions that the city may be a little too big for her,
but Roston thinks she'll be just fine. Back at Pageant
Place Katie talks to Rachel about what it will be like to
live with the person who beat her for Miss Universe.
Rachel seems to be pretty much over her fall at the Miss
Universe Pageant but may be a little nervous because
she'll no longer be the top-girl in the apartment. Riyo is
given a warm welcome from Rachel and Katie when she shows
up at the apartment, and being Miss Universe means she's
on the top of the ladder, so she gets the big bedroom;
it's pink and huge, and Riyo gets her own TV, which she
loves.
After getting settled Riyo, Rachel and Katie
head over to the Miss Universe Offices to meet with Paula
Shugart, the Miss Universe Organization president. Paula
tells the girls that this is going to be an important year
as the organization took a pretty big hit with the Tara
scandal. Paula says that to fix their image problem the
burden will unfortunately fall onto Rachel, Katie and
Riyo. Finally getting down to business Paula says that the
first thing they will be doing will be to fly to Indiana
for the Best Buddies event. As the girls are getting up to
leave Paula asks Rachel to hang back so they can speak
privately. After Katie and Riyo leave Paula tells Rachel
that Donald Trump wants Tara back in the organization,
making appearances and helping out wherever she can.
Rachel is upset at the news but she takes it well, in the
end she's more worried about keeping it secret from Riyo
and Katie. Later, Rachel meets up with the other girls for
lunch. Katie asks Rachel what her meeting with Paula was
about and Rachel side-steps the question, but Katie and
Riyo aren't buying it, they know something's up.
The
next morning the girls arrive at the airport to fly to
Indiana but they are set back when Riyo realizes she
doesn't have any photo-id. They plead with security,
pulling out Miss Universe paraphernalia, press clippings,
and business cards. Eventually, after Riyo pulls out her
Miss Universe sash, they let her on the plane and the
girls are on their way.
The girls make it to Indiana
and have a successful event with the Best Buddies program.
Later in the day, Rachel reaches her breaking point and
decides that she must tell Katie and Riyo about Tara.
Katie takes the news well and asks how Rachel feels about
Tara coming back. Both Rachel and Katie think each other
are just putting on a happy face and they are actually
more upset than they are claiming to be.
Back in New
York Katie, Riyo and Rachel meet with Donald Trump. Mr.
Trump makes the news of Tara coming back official and none
of the girls protest. Donald thinks that with Tara and all
her experience in the crew they are going to have a great
year.
The next thing we know Tara is back in New York
and on her way to the Miss Universe Office. Roston
welcomes her with open arms and they take some time to
discuss the past, Tara's sobriety, and their prospects for
the future. Tara says she's super excited to meet Riyo but
she's also very nervous about seeing Katie, who she hasn't
spoken with in almost 8 months.
Meanwhile, Katie is out
with her boyfriend, Josh, spending the day together
because it's his birthday. Josh is the same boyfriend
Katie accused Tara of trying to steal. Katie tells Josh
that Tara is coming back and he's not too happy. He
doesn't have many fond memories of Tara and is also upset
that she's coming back on his birthday. But they both
agree that time will tell if it's going to be a good
situation or not.
Tara and Roston finish up at the Miss
Universe office and head over to the Pageant Place
apartment to say hello. When they arrive they find the
door locked and their knocking goes unanswered. However,
on the inside is an unhappy Rachel, not looking like she's
about to open the front door any time soon.
