-- Gas Prices (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=65498)

Posted by Fionn McCool on 09-02-2005 12:50 AM:

Petrol is €1.079 per litre here in Ireland. I know an area manager for a major oil company here who says that in the next 6 to 12 months or less price will be the least of our worries as there is going to be a shortage worldwide and it will be rationed out to petrol stations.

Not because of any sort of shortage, just 'cause we fucking feel like it

Fixed.

Yeah, but what you don't seem to understand, and I don't think many americans are catching on yet, is that the price of EVERYTHING is going or will go up!! Hell, the local McDonald's restuarants just raisied their prices. So not only are we all paying more for gas, now we'll be paying more for food, clothes, housewares, etc. Not to mention that even the cost of maintanence on our cars, to get better gas mileage, will more likely increase! The reason is that not only has gas increased, but diesel as well. And 80 percent of our goods are shipped here in the states OTR. So the truckers pay more for diesel (I saw it yesterday between $2.89 and $3.19 here), which means they increase their shipping costs to the distributors who in turn increase their costs to the manufacturers who in turn increase their costs of their goods. How do I know? Because it's happening to me!!!! My main supplier just called 2 days ago to inform me that my next shippments will include a extra surcharge for shipping thanks to the fuel prices. And the price of the products I buy from them will more than likely increases, as it costing them more to produce, because of fuel prices.

So yes, we are paying less than some parts of the world though not all. But we're feeling it much worse.

Oh, and can you say Recession?

I've held back as long as possible!

I cant stand the whinging anymore. I dont think there is much you can list which we dont pay more for. You are still only paying 80cents a litre for fuel which converted is 44pence here. We're paying $7+ dollars a gallon here.

If McDonalds costs more, go less often and buy some real food instead.

Hmm, you just may have to become like the rest of us and think about what we buy first. We ALL feel the pinch of taxes, price hikes etc but thats just life.

Exactly, I'm not bitching about the actual Price of Gas, just the fact that it now costs 30% more than it did 2 months ago, no matter what the original cost was. And this 30% increase will drive up every other cost too.

Doesn't matter who pays more, just the fact that we're now all paying exponentially more. Gasoline is just like the diamond market, held by a close few and charged waaaaaaaaaaay more than it's acually worth.

Sucketh.

It was an example. You can't be that stupid. I said everything was going up. So that would include "real food". Jesus.

No, what is happening to us is not "just life". It's a serious situation that will have a huge impact on our economy for the forseeable future. Take an economics class sometime when your old enough to go to high school.

Good luck crazy_jay. That new house will cost you more a month as our electric, gas, and other utilities go up in price. And yes recession, as in people spend less becuase everything will cost more.

Recession,Recession,Recession,Recession!!!!!!!!!!!

My town was $1.38CAD/litre yesterday. It's extremely steep, but just be fortunate that's your only "disaster" to worry about - Things could be much worse then bitching about gas prices.

Lots of whining, if you can't afford gas you should have studied harder in school so you would have a better job and more money.

Petrol is much more expensive in the U.K so you can't moan shit, unless you actually believe that Americans have a god given right to have a better deal than anyone else in the world then you had better just start getting used to it.

It seriously doesn't help the situation when the cars driven in U.S.A have engines that would put a combine harvester to shame, try something more economical, get a better job or shut the fuck up

Posted by Fionn McCool on 09-04-2005 06:44 PM:

Listen Kid, if the whinging bothers you so much, don't read the thread, its that simple K. Here’s a hint for you, if the title of the thread reads GAS PRICES, there’s a strong chance your gonna get people complaining about......guess what ? ........FUCKING GAS PRICES.

the govt doesnt give a fuck caz they know that the poor are the only ones going to get public education and nobody gives a fuck about u if ur poor in the US

the only thing the govt gives a fuck about is teaching kids intelligent design over evolution

What those Brits and other Euro-peein's aren't admitting to is that THEIR goverment Taxes the FUCK out of their fuel to raise the costs to what they pay now. Remove all those taxes and they are pretty much on par with what we are at here.

Not to mention that their Countries are around the size of one of our average states, they get clean public transportation to anywhere important and that companies in Europe who rely on fuel as a part of their business (delivery, hauling, taxis) get tax breaks on their fuel consumption. What I drive in a day for work would allow most Englanders to do several laps around their country.

Oh, and if you are living in the Metro Atlanta area, good luck on find a station that even HAS gas to sell, don't believe the press, nearly 4 out of every 5 gas-stations I passed by over the weekend didn't have shit to sell. And until they can get that mess along the Gulf cleaned up, this will continue here in the south. Fuck.

And if you want cheap gas, goto Russia, I did the math with an online friend and they are around a buck fitty for a gallon of fuel.

The whole European and Brit v American thing is tiresome and boring. Grow up kids, fuel prices affect the whole world, not just where you live.

For a normal hard working citizen of any country fuel is a necessity, the price of it is cheap at twice the price. I live in London, I buy the most expensive fuel on the planet, it still doesn't make anywhere near as much of a dent as the mortgage payments. If you can't afford it, don't fucking buy it. Stop getting BMW's and Merc's on finance, no one actually believes you are rich coz of the car you drive so stop being plastic gangster. People trying to live large on minimum wage are always going to run short on the necessities of life, don't do it if you can't afford it.

The point of bitching about rising gas prices is that, at least in my case, i used to be able to afford it, and now that i've invested all this time and money into a car, am i just going to let is sit in the garage and go back to bussing?

Are you done now child, I mean your last statement told me you were such since you, even a child, knows everything?
If all you can do is try to imply I listen to such abhorrent music in order to avoid intelligent discourse, then well done my friend. I posted in such a way as a jest. You posted your reply just to be an asshole.
